The most talked-about project on the Dubai tourism scene is Palm Island,
the multi-billion (US) dollar project to expand luxury hotel and beach
offerings in the municipality on the world's largest man-made islands.
The massive project calls for two islands, shaped like a palm trees,
to be built in the Arabian Gulf off the coast of Dubai. When completed,
each of the islands will be 6km in diameter. It total, the islands
will be the site for a total of 82 luxury hotels, 4,000 residential
villas, shopping malls, cinemas and a marine park. Marinas with
the capacity to berth 150 yachts and 50 "super yachts"
will also be built and available for property owners.
Villas on the Palm Island project will be sold on a free-hold basis
to any interested buyer.
The project, which is being funded by the Government of Dubai,
will also add 120km of beaches to Dubai's coastline. The islands
are being designed in an environmentally sounds manner, and will
provide a sanctuary for wildlife. |
